Age-appropriate meals

Ani's zeal for solid foods has been truly liberating for my husband and me, and we've come to the point where we rarely bring food along when we go out to eat. We just order meals that she can eat as well and we all can enjoy as a family.

Independence is messy

My nine-month-old is enjoying the wide world of finger foods so much she no longer will allow us to feed her by spoon. I'm pleased and encouraged by her desire to be more independent, but it is making the post-meal cleanup even more overwhelming than before. I can handle picking up pieces of scrambled eggs that missed her mouth, or carrots that have been crushed into the tray for her high chair.
